When he heard the news, Prince John paced the room impatiently in front of his allies.
"Those cowardly traitors!" he exclaimed. "Those traitors, leaving me at a time like this. I should hang them from the draw-bridges of their own castles!"

Just then De Bracy arrived to see Prince John. His armour was still covered in blood and dust from the battle at Torquilstone. He took off his helmet and placed it on the table beside the Prince.
"De Bracy," exclaimed Prince John, "what has happened (что случилось; to happen — случaться, происходить)? Speak (говори)!
