Abstract: The article analyzes the aspects of constructing the regulation of relations regarding genetic research, taking into account the interests of all parties involved, as well as public interests. In the article it is considered the issues of using factual genetic data, the possibility of manipulating genetic material, and the appropriate protection of biotechnological objects. It is pointed out that in establishing an appropriate regime of legal protection of the relevant results of intellectual activity, a special role is played by the aspect of the compliance of such research (manipulations) with public interests in terms of observance of morality generally recognized in a particular country.
