My eyes dart to Ivy once again to see that she is fighting back tears. The smile she wears is tight and fake, her once easygoing posture lost to tense shoulders and shaky knees.

“Jealous?”

Tipping a finger beneath my chin, he turns my face back to his and leans down until our mouths are a teasing inch apart.

“I noticed you were watching us closely the entire time I was speaking to her.”

Pulling away from his touch, I roll my eyes.

“Only because she may have needed an eyewitness if she ever feels the need to run to the police to turn you in. I know your games.”

His grin widens as he wraps his arm with mine and leads me back to the house.

“Then you should also know I play them well enough that the police can’t do much about them.”

A sigh bursts over my lips, the truth of his words making it impossible to argue.

“Where are you taking me now?”

“Upstairs, like I said before. There’s a group of people I’m sure you’ll love to see.”
