Утвердительная форма – Subject + had + verb (-ed) or verb (III) + …
We had talked it over before. – Мы это обсуждали раньше.
Отрицательная форма – Subject + had + not + verb (-ed) or verb (III) + …
I hadn’t finished my make-up by that time. – Я еще не закончила краситься к тому времени.
Вопросительная форма – (Question word) + had + subject + verb (-ed) or verb (III) + …?
Had you washed your hands? – Ты вымыл руки?
При ответе на вопрос, предполагающий ответ да или нет, используются следующие шаблоны:
Had you washed your face? – Yes, I had. – (положительный ответ) – No, I had not. – (отрицательный ответ)
